Why Chiropractic?

Neck PainMany people seek chiropractic care only when they have back pain. They believe that lessening the pain solves the the problem. That assumption is incorrect.

Pain is a signal to our brain warning us about a problem.  But sometimes illness and disease starts without pain. Receiving treatment before the pain starts and more serious problems develop is the purpose of chiropractic care.  Treatment might include changes in diet and exercise, a healthy mental attitude, and spinal adjustments.

Of course, the most common reason for patients to seek chiropractic care is the result of an injury or accident. At Chesapeake Chiropractic we work with all types of injuries such as those from car accidents, workman’s compensation cases, sports injuries, and everyday aches and pain.

We pride ourselves on providing a personal plan for each person instead of a boilerplate treatment plan requiring a set number of visits regardless of the progress and condition of the patient. At Chesapeake Chiropractic, you will only be scheduled as often as is needed to get you well. Afterwards, we recommend a continued maintenance program to keep you on the path of health and wellness. Once again this program is individualized for each person. While many of our patients do opt for this plan but it is not mandatory.

Our chiropractic approach provides gentle and effective relief with a personal touch. We do not force anything that is not ready to go. We also take the time to concentrate on the muscular aspect of injuries by working on the trigger points and prescribing therapeutic exercises; because muscles affect the skeleton just as much as the skeleton affects the muscles. Both must be taken into account for true healing. The phrase, “It’s just muscular”, will usually also have a skeletal component slowing the healing process.
