What is Chiropractic? What is it for? It is many different things to many people.
For most people it is to take care of the pain running down their arm/legs, headaches,
backaches, and neck aches. This is what Chiropractic is known for. While it does
provide relief for all those things as well as many other aches and pains, the big
idea is to provide a better quality of life before the pain starts. Many people
live with constant aches and pain, especially people behind a desk and computer,
never realizing that this is not normal.
For many people, the pain they are experiencing is the problem. That
is incorrect. Pain tells you that there is a problem, but you can still be ill without
pain. Getting treated before the pain and problems arise and start to affect your
daily life is a main idea of Chiropractic care. Treatment is done with diet, exercise,
a healthy mental attitude, and adjustments.
Of course, the pain from an injury is usually what drives people
to seek a chiropractor. At Chesapeake Chiropractic we work with all types of injuries
such as those from car accidents, workman’s compensation cases, sports injuries,
and everyday aches and pain.
We pride ourselves on providing a personal plan for each person instead
of a standard treatment of so many visits for everybody. You will only be seen as
often as is needed to get you well. Afterwards, we suggest a continued maintenance
program to keep you on the track of wellness. Once again this program is individualized
for each person. While many of our patients do opt for this plan but it is not mandatory.
Our style is to provide gentle and effective relief with a personal touch. We do
not force anything that is not ready to go. We also take the time to concentrate
on the muscular aspect of injuries by working on the trigger points and prescribing
therapeutic exercises. The reason is because muscles affect the skeleton just as
much as the skeleton affects the muscles. Both must be taken into account for true
healing. The phrase, “It’s just muscular”, will usually also have
a skeletal component slowing the healing process.
If you are still unsure if Chiropractic is right for you please give
us a call and we will schedule a consultation for you. There is no need to keep
living in pain.
